THE CHARM OF IMPERFECTION
Let a little
wear show through.
A trace of instability can change how a recording feels. Midtown explores Cassette textures that bring warmth, worn edges and a sense of memory to a modern production.
Midtown offers 100 Wavesfactory Cassette presets for lo-fi, cinematic and experimental productions. The collection explores the warmth, quirks and imperfections of magnetic tape, giving modern recordings a nostalgic character.
These presets use Cassette’s stability controls, tape artefacts and modular processing to create varied textures. Add a touch of worn tape to an instrument or make the effect a more prominent part of your sound.
Wavesfactory Cassette presets for lo-fi textures
Midtown gives you a range of starting points for exploring tape colour. Compare presets on your own material, then adjust the processing to suit the track. A restrained treatment can add warmth; a stronger one can draw attention to the instability and texture.
The collection includes NKS-ready presets and step-by-step installation instructions. It is designed for musicians and sound designers who want to explore vintage-inspired effects within a modern production workflow.
You will need the Wavesfactory Cassette plugin to use Midtown.
The presets are royalty-free for commercial and non-commercial work. Redistribution, resale or repackaging of the files is not permitted. For more saturation textures, explore Shatter for Soundtoys Decapitator.
